Facebook page format causing errors

10 replies · 6,717 views · Started 10 February 2010

FYI..it appears that the recent changes by Facebook to their page formats is affecting the scripts in the Facebook widget for the N97 and N97 mini.

As of 10-Feb-10, the latest version in the Ovi Store doesn't fix the problem. 😡

If anyone finds a workaround or news of an update, please leave word for everyone here.

Its bloomin frustrating as I recently downloaded the latest facebook wgt. from Ovi and it worked a treat untill thismornings "error retreaving news feed" etc! Grrr, hope there is a fix soon as its a usefull tool IMHO.

While you're waiting for a fix, and as a temporary measure, try accessing facebook through the "snaptu" app - it's really fast and the UI is great ... anyway, it's worth checking out 😊

Have you tried browsing photos on the Touch site? The right arrow is right behind the arrows that bring up the Web menus. Not good 😞

Accessing the Facebook web site through the default Web browser is an acceptable workaround, but because they put some of the touch targets, such as "logout" at the extreme bottom right of the page, when you go to tap them you will bring up the browser in-screen menu. Then you will need to tap them again while the menu is still on-screen in order to access the function.

I've been using Gravity as a stop-gap until Facebook starts working again.

oh yes ! i liked Gravity too 😊

It's probably a bit more comprehensive than Snaptu, but Snaptu is free .... and as a temporary measure for some people it might be the better option, but yes, Gravity is cool 😃

The folks at Facebook changed the structure/metatags and now the Facebook widget not only works again, but works FASTER and BETTER!
