Hi, just got the 5800 and im wondering what the lastest update is?

Mine is at the moment on V31.0.101 which was last updated on 16/09/2009..

Also, where do u get it from?

Hi,

The latest version of software available is v40.0.005. I have downloaded it recently like around 1 month ago. You can download it by connecting your phone to a PC/Laptop and downloading it from Nokia Software Updater (It should be installed on the PC/Lapto though). Also you said you got it just now. I am surprised that the latest version is not installed on it already. Anyways follow the above method if you want to download it.

The update is ok. You get new functionality like Contacts Bar on Home page and Kinetic Scrolling (though not at all areas). But when I downloaded the software, my music player hanged a lot and also phone restarted frequently. It was quite frustrating. Then had to format my memory card and now I don't have any problem. So what I suggest is you remove your memory card, then connect the phone and download the software.

Regards
Ravikiran

Depends on where you are. In US, v31 is the latest update. we will probably get v40 soon, but not yet.

Hi I just tried to update my 5800 purchased March 2009 it has only updated to V 20.0.025 ?
Can someone please tell me what the current situation is in the UK regarding updaying to V 40. ? is 20.0.025 all we can get in England ?

Will my fone be suitable for an upgrade or will I need to buy a newer more recent version.
Last question why is it Nokia can't put something clear about this on their site ? why have I got to go register somewhere else to ask? pah!

have a great W/E everyone

I think it's not nokia. My 5800 is on orange uk. Nokia updated the firmware to v40, but orange has to give it the go ahead, to make sure it's okay with what they want their customers to have, and hasn't got that far yet. I changed my product code to a generic 5800 and it updated straight away. Read back a page on this forum if that's of interest..

Finally managed to update to v4 this morning. On a branded O2 5800. So the update seems to finally arrived.

Let us know how it works for you. My .40 seems less stable than the previous version (.30?). This morning mine crashed when switching from 'offline' to 'normal'. It's really quite pathetic.
