Dont know how much this has changed in the last month or so, but Metallica were the first artist I searched for when I had Spotify on Desktop and none of their albums were available 😞
It's a good app. Offline mode is really the key benefit.
We'll see a lot more apps with offline caching and better sync, IMHO.
On track availability - you also won't find any Beatles or Led Zeppelin (apart from tribute acts and karaoke albums)
There are some real big omisions on the artist list, I think some labels don't understant the model. For exmaple you can't find any song from:
AC/DC
Frank Zappa
Led Zepelin
Metallica
Peter Gabriel (no LP)
Pink Floyd
The Beatles
I found a lot of smaller acts/artists weren't there, or more worryingly only had some albums available (even when released under one label, so not an issue with licensing). I suspect it depends what you're looking to listen to but I would definitely advise anyone to look into grabbing a free taster and checking discographies available for artists you're interested in before putting down �10. Napster seem to offer a similar service (with Nokia client) but with a significantly higher number of albums (although so far I am yet to bite the bullet).
I was under the impression that removing a playlist from the offline list deleted the cache, thats what appeared to happen on mine when I did just that

Thanks Leod_UK, you're quite right. I had e-mailed Spotify's press office about this, but they only replied to me this afternoon, after publication.

Yeah but... Apple charge you a small fortune for a single album - this is a fixed price subscription for access to as much music as you want in that period, they could hardly make that service DRM free or everyone would just join for a month and 'fill their boots'.
It's a bit like comparing SKY+ with an overpriced DVD.
Also worthy of mention is that you can sync to 2 mobiles as well as your desktop. So both me and my wife have full access via our mobiles, and the whole family at home, all for �10 per month. I paid more than that for my first CD in 1985!
