ok, i'm getting my shiney new N97 early next week and im looking for some nice apps to go on it.

the ones im already gettin are oper mini 5 and opera mobile 10 aswel as a must that is skyfire.

goin to download that sky mobile app as im looking to get the subscription sometime in the future..

Depends on what you want to do with your phone I guess?

THe top two apps I would not do without are:

Skype / fring. Listed them together, as they essentially do teh same thing, but I think fring wins , as you can access several accounts through one application ( Skype, MSN etc ) and fring also supports video calling ( although I cannot get this to work! )

Joikuspot. As I travel a lot, I use this to turn my phone into a wifi hotspot, so can then surf the web using my laptop. The Lite version is free, and if you like it, you can purchase the Premium version ( Premium allows full web baseed email, VPN's etc ) but if you use a Mac, the Lite version will let you do all of this anyway.

Sadly, the N97 Mini does not come with an FM Transmitter - and I know this isn't an 'application' but deffo a feature my next phone MUST have. It's brilliant.

Enjoy the phone, good luck.

Tried replying to this ealrier, but got moderated, so by the time the post comes through, al interest will have been lost....

Anyway, it depends on waht you want your phone for. AS I'm abroad, and for ease of keeping in touch with the folks back home, Skype / fring is a godsend. fring probably edges it for me, as it allows access to multiple accounts ( Skype, MSN etc ) and also supports video calling ( though I can't get it to work on my phone! )

The other 'really useful' app I have ( and also had it on the N95 ) is Joikuspot. As I travel a lot, I use it to turn the phone into a wifi hotspot and then surf t'internet on t' laptop. Very good it is too.

That's it. Other stuff it just 'entertainment' really.

Free iSMS has to be must have favourite as it allows me to view threaded texts like the iPhone.

Ovi Maps v3.04 is a must have too.

Nimbuzz is great for social netwrking.

Have a look through the sticky at the top of this forum for ideas and suggestions.

I'd love ISMS but the signing process seems to complicated and I've always put it off... maybe I should just sit down and work it out.

It's worth doing, because you only need to sign the app once and then it'll always work on your phone. That said, I installed (my personally signed) Y-Browser today and it said the certificate had expired, so I had to put the date back to October to install it.
