How can I tell if my new N97 has the camera cover fault

Just had a new N97 delivered - it came with v11 software! I have debranded and loaded v21. Is there any way to tell if it has the camera cover fault before it scratches the lens, or do I have to find out the hard way?

Fixed N97 camera sliders are slighly higher, away from the lens, than un-fixed ones. Keep the slider closed and tilt the phone to try and look under it at the camera. If you can *just* to say see the camera underneath, then you've likely got a fixed one.

Thanks for the quick reply - not looking especially good - its not quite flush but almost. Is this something that can be fixed with a new back, or does the whole phone have to go away?

I think they replace the whole rear chassis of the phone, which includes the camera lens, flash, and slider.

I found out the hard way that mine is the crap version. A huge scratch along along the camera bit. Luckily the worst of it is on the non-camera side of it but the camera side did get scratched... luckily it doesnt affect my photos, as its only just at the top of the lens. I got off lucky in that sense as I hate sending phones off to be repaired and having to be without them for periods of time.
