Searching on this forum gives you this for v20:-

and this for v21:-

I suspect bang bang boom has an N97 mini...
If I recall, N97's v20 is comparable to the mini's v10, and v21 to v11 so the link to v21 will be useful.

Good point zxon.
Just checked boom boom bang's postings and there's no mention of mini or otherwise. 😃
However, he does say his product code is 0587665, which leads me to believe it's a classic and not a mini.

Ha! Ha! Ha!
I remembered telling him where to find his product code a few days back.
I must say, it is confusing having 2 N97's, the classic and the mini.
It's hard enough keeping up with all the classic variants. 😊
yea.. just to carify, i have the 32gb version.. to me its just an N97 LOL
Anyway, i've downoaded NSU and installed.. when i eventually managed to get it to work (kept telling me its unavailable at the mo and to try later) it told me there was an update and to continue i need to download that ( why the hell it didnt download the newest version i beyond me)... so, downloaded and installed the update... rebooted as it said and now its telling me its unavailable again and to try later..
Not very relaible this NSU is it... is there another way around it?

I find NSU very reliable.
Because NSU covers a multitude of Nokia phones and firmware versions you do sometimes find that an update is required once downloaded.
You should really "Back-up" your phone using PC Suite as this, for you, will be a jump from v11 to v21 and your phones settings will not be compatible after the firmware update. You could safely restore Contacts, Calendar, Messages, Notes and Bookmarks.
The best advice, IMHO, is, as you've only had the phone a few days, to do the upgrade and then start all over again and load everything piece by piece.
This will help prevent such things as freezes and crashes which can occur when there are major firmware jumps, such as yours.
While you're waiting you could look at other postings about updating the N97. Might save you some time and frustration.

Good luck! 😃
now its saying no updates available. tried both with tmobile and virgin sim..
any clues on how to get the thing to work?
What version of NSU are you using?
2.. Sumthing.
Its updated now. This min just finished.
It didnt delete owt tho
after a good play it seems the upgrde went well. I didnt back anything up and didnt need too as nothing at all was removed/deleted.
It hasnt crashed yet and hasnt need restarting so all is good
found 2 bugs/faults since my update.
Bug 1: upon settin an alarm it goes off 5mins off original set time... Not too much of an issue as i can either set it 5mins earler or have 5 more mins in bed.
Bug 2: when listening to music in the music player volume cant be turned down using the side controls. Is it possable any other way? Not tried the headphone set that came with the phone yet im savin them until my old ones break
I've not had either of these issues. The main issues I have are (on v2.1):
1) RSS feeds need to be set to auto update again after a reboot
2) Randomly getting the nokia tune ringtone instead of the ringtone you have selected.
3) Sometimes phone freezes when answering a call from a locked state. The screen just displays the 2 sliders to answer the call or to reject it.

So, maybe the upgrade didn't go so well after all.
Might be worth following Steve Litchfield's definitive article on upgrading, particularly items 3 and 4. See here:-

I can't guarantee it will sort these problems but at least you will know that it's not your previous settings, as I mentioned in an earlier post here, interfering with the new firmware, as often is the case.

thanks for that. My music player seems to have sorted itself out now and will vol up and down.
I've tried a backup but it will only let me select F drive; as i've no memory card in it wont back up. I cant see an option for E drive; do u know how to change from F drive to E drive?

You can only back-up to F: (Memory card) on the phone. What I and Steve Litchfield are talking about is using Back-up on PC or Ovi Suite to your computer. This allows you to back-up C; E: and F: drives.
Ok.
If i hard reset will everyting on my E drive be deleted?
bang bang boom wrote:Ok.If i hard reset will everyting on my E drive be deleted?
A hard reset "should" not wipe E:.
However, I would recommend backing E: up in any case.

It really is much simpler to use PC or Ovi Suite to do a complete back-up in one step. 😕
