N97 mini problems. Any solution?

Hi there.

I have a N97mini for some time and i am very pleased with it.

I have a couple of problems though. A few days ago it started taking like 10sec to send text messages. It says "sending message" and i can't do anything meanwhile. I remeber that when i bought it that this would take about 1sec.
What could have happened? I have the last firmware release.

For the second problem, lol. I have defined a tone for received calls and sometimes it just uses the original nokia tone!!! Anyone knows why?

Thanks in advance.

Antonio

Re the messages: I did notice on my N97 that once the inbox got quite full, it started to respond slowly ( full by having 300+ messages in there ) , so deleted the whole lot them, and it went back to 'normal' speed of loading and sending messages.

Have you also changed where you store the messages? I have them stored on the E drive, not on the C Drive

Re the Ring Tone. This was quite a common problem with older FW on the big N97, and not sure if there is a way around it. Ian - one of the regular posters on here - did send me a suggestion for a cure so if you want, I can forward it to you, but it's quite long winded.

Have you noticed when the phone defaults to the Nokia Ring Tone - is it when you have just re-booted the phone?

Angelyzer,

I have a mini and I really like it but i too have the problem with the assigned ringtone reverting for no reason to the default Nokia tone.

Thanks for the reply nottmbantam.

I've deleted all the messages and now it works perfectly. I had about 50 messages though and i'm afraid i can't keep nothing near 300 messages or so. It's a shame. I had them stored on the E drive and still do. Hope they can fix this problem soon.

About the Ring tone, i never noticed if it occurs after a re-boot but i'll try it. If u can suggest how to solve it, i appreciate it.

Regards

I'll have a look through my PM's, and forward you what Ian had posted me, it may help. The ring tone fault is quite a common problem on older FW versions, the phone just randomly defaults to the Nokia tone very now and again, though to be honest, it hasn't happened to me for a while, maybe FW 21 has sorted that.

I have to confess to sheer laziness and haven't tried out your theory, but have made good use of it and PM'd it to Angelyzer ! - hope it does the trick for him.

Cheers.

Thank u both for ur help.

I've done the trick and so far so good 😊

Hope they fix the bug soon though, so that i don't have to downsize every songs before i use them as ring tones.

Cheers

If you are feeling up to it, could you also please forward that message to me? It is a very irritating problem on my N97 as that original tone is one of those noises that just gets to me, like nails scratching down a chalkboard!
