How Java run in non Symbian enabled phones?

Hi,

Browsing Nokia pages I saw that there are lots of devices that were Java enabled, but only few of them were Symbian enabled. Can anyone tell me how non Symbian enabled phones run Java applications? Is there another OS apart from Symbian or JVM is the only interface between java applications and mobile phone? What are the differences between Symbian and this other OS?

Thank you very much.

Yes, there is another OS running on non-Symbian phones. The JVM on these phones is implemented on top of this OS.Currently have the following OS:Brew, Symbian, Embedded Linux, MS SmartPhojne OS, PalmOS, and MS winCE/POcketPC.
