Hi all,

Im sure its a simple issue that someone can sort for me ....I am able to receive email through my nokia n97 perfectly however I am unable to send email.

I am on orange and am trying to send emails using my virgin pop account (not virgin media-the original virgin company)

My email settings go something like this

Incoming Mail :-

User Name : [email protected]

password : my password

incoming mail server : pop.virgin.net

Access Point: Default Connection

Mailbox name: Virgin.net

Mailbox type: POP3

Security: Off

Port: Default

APOP Secure Login: off

Outgoing Mail Server:

My email address : [email protected]

Username: myUsername

Password: Password

Outgoing Mail Server: smtp.virgin.net

Access point in use: must be defined

Security: Off

Port: Default

Could someone advise what im doing wrong

Cheers

Matt

Try amending these settings:-

On Incoming mail server... pop3.virgin.net

On Outgoing mail

User name.... Your email address ([email protected])

Access point... Default connection

If that doesn't work... try changing your incoming and outgoing mail servers to.... mail.virgin.net

I'm pretty sure that Virgin mail servers will be blocking you as you're trying to send email out through their servers without being on their network - it's an antispam/relay protection thing.

I think you'll probably need to send via Orange's SMTP servers (smtp.orange.net I think)
