Need help testing a beta widget — Nokia Eseries S60 3.1 Phones (2nd Generation: E51, E66, E71)

Hi everyone! I need some help from willing E71 owners to test a widget I've made to see if it works on it. First, a little background.

I've produced a Weight Watchers Widget that calculates the points value of foods when the calories, saturated fat, and fibre values are provided. The widget was originally written for S60v5 devices like the 5800 and N97. Recently I was asked by an E71 owner for some help getting it to work on his phone, and I explained I'd made it for S60v5 and not S60v3. However, not one to disappoint, I quickly re-designed the widget so it was suitable for non-touchscreen S60 devices so he (and possibly others) could use it too.

I installed it on my N95 which, if I understand correctly, uses the same version of the SymbianOS as the E71 and, again if I understand correctly, if I switch the N95 to landscape mode the widget would show on the screen the same way it would on an E71. It ran perfectly fine (although I could do with lining up some of the form elements a little better) and would do the calculations as expected. Unfortunately, the E71 owner who contacted me about this is still experiencing difficulties installing it.

I'm currently waiting for my timeslot to come up on Nokia's Remote Device Access site so I can try it there, but since I don't own an E71, could someone here have a go at installing and using this widget to see if it works ok? Over 50 reads, which means possibly one person has downloaded and tried the widget, and no replies? :frown:

I haven't tested it - sorry. But one reason for difficulties is that I think the E71 (and other S60 3.1 phones) have some WRT differences between firmware versions.

Cheers Rafe. I've since found out that the person in question had v100 on their phone (due to the network not authorising newer ones). I've also managed to get onto Nokia's RDA and test the widget on an emulated E71 with v300 on it, with great success. As far as I know, the newest is v400.

Has anyone managed to test this yet? I'd love to get as much feedback as possible on this issue.

Ive for a 71 w/400 on it... but I've no idea about weight watchers etc ...

What do you actually want testing or do you just want to see if I can break it? 😉

Haha, break it, I like it! 😃

Really it's just to see if it runs at all, but if you encounter any other problems please feel free to report back (BTW I'm aware a couple of the fields and numbers are not aligned properly, and it breaks if you put text into the boxes instead of numbers. I whipped the widget up pretty quickly.)
