Live TV on your N97

12 replies · 25,102 views · Started 24 March 2010

With the digital switchover, for most people, today in the UK, this may prove useful for UK residents and license payers.

You can now watch about 40 Freeview channels (Fig1) on your N97 as follows:-

1. Install Skyfire from here:-

http://get.skyfire.com/

be aware that Skyfire uses an awful lot of RAM (Fig3). See here:-

2. Once installed you can navigate in Skyfire here:-

http://tvcatchup.com/

and sign up for free.

3. You can now go to the Channels page and bookmark it (not the iPhone one which can only handle about half the channels :rofl😊 and you can select from about 40 live Freeview TV channels.

This works on both 3G and Wi-Fi, however, it is very data intensive so I would recommend using Wi-Fi.

Once you have selected a TV channel there is a short advertisement whilst the live channel is loading.

Picture quality and sound are good for me. (Fig2)

I should also add that you can get about 40 radio stations (more coming soon) as well.

(works on Nokia series 60 3rd & 5th edition phones. Touch and non touch)

Its nit a new service.. Been around for a few years.. I remember its illegal days.. And u could actually get catch up.. Now its just live streams due to legal issues..

Anyway... It worked a lot better on my N95 8gb than it does on the N97 i dont use it that much anyway so cant gripe too much

Just been p.m.'d by a regular forum member (who will remain nameless to spare her embarrassment) asking me about the availability and cost of porn channels on tvcatchup.com.

The answer is, that for today only (Wednesday, 24th March 2010), quite a few of the channels are showing porn free of charge.

All you have to do to receive this is to follow the instructions in my original posting and then select any news based programme and you can see one man, the Chancellor of the Exchequer, screwing a whole country in the Budget.

Hope this helps.

In my defence - I'm a geezer innit, not a girlie. Well, last time I looked anyway.....

Sadly, tv catch up does not work for me out herein Saudi - just tried it,and it's a UK service only.

Hmm, regardless of Wifi connection I use (tried work and home) it thinks i'm not in the UK although TVCatchup works ok on my home and work PC...

also works on N97 using skyfire.. Channel 4 catch up on youtube and 5 on demand.. got sum great stuff on there.. also 5 on demand website works too.. channel 4 dusnt tho 😞

www.seesaw.com works also which is also a catch up service for the major terrestral channels
