hi guys. i already own a N97 but i'm intending on having a N900. is it recommended? what are your views? thank you

i like it too. you'd have to depend on the community to help you with creating/tweaking apps mainly, as it's linux based, and nokia doesnt really give much support for it

have a look at the maemo forums, there's someone there asking the same thing as you

Hi

I really like the idea of N900 and was considering it next contract upgrade - What seems to be a lack of Apps bothers me a little.I am an avid ebook reader and I have not seen anything like Mobipocket or ereader pro for maemo. Also although most sms \multimedia messaging now works on linux kernal an article on allabout maemo did suggest that not all types of messaging that symbian offers is covered. My current satnav by sygic does seem to be covered though.

So therefore a little wary at moment - the N97 is not perfect (I have not had a lot of problems with mine) but does now seem to have a much more established app\support culture.

Boothy

i own the n900 and its a nice device infact im loving it but it may not be for everyone so i would try it out before you buy

if you got any questions it feel free to ask

edit
on the apps side of things there are curently around 250 in extras / 250 in testing / loads more in devil

the o/s has been out since end of november so not so bad and dont forget the n900 supports qt so new symbian apps will work on it and future meego apps will also work on it and any other apps built in qt , its exciting times and the n900 helps give a taste of what is happending 😊

there are some good apps like ps1 emulator , angry birds , bounce , picodrive , ecoach , sygic , recorder , hermes , fmms , jabber support for facebook chat

its a fun device like i say iam loving it and new stuff turn up everyday like overclocking , led hacks , custome boot videos , conversations mods , adding more homescreens etc etc

it plays divix/avi out of the box supports media streaming out of the box , has full web browser , full pc o/s , 1gb total ram , 600mhz processor mines clocked to 900mhz , its just a pocket computer lol and it gets better every day thanks to a great community
