N97 does not connect to PC?

3 replies · 7,175 views · Started 17 April 2010

My N97 does want to connect to my desktop or my laptop. On my desktop, i have PC Suite and on my laptop I have Ovi PC Suite.

When I use the USB connection, neither PC recognises that the device has been plugged in? What can I do?

I may be the connection software on my mobile. I may be the USB cable that's faulty.

It may be that the firmware may need to be reinstalled. But how does one do that if you phone does not want to connect to the PC using a cable?

OK... This is radical but it worked for me.

1. On your computer go to Control Panel > Programs and uninstall the following:-

Nokia PC Suite
Nokia Software Updater
PC Connectivity Solution
Nokia Connectivity Cable Driver
(Basically anything Nokia)

Download and install Nokia PC Suite Cleaner:-

Read instructions and run Cleaner.

Download and install either Nokia PC Suite 7.1 from here:-

and Nokia Software Updater from here:-

or you can download the OVI PC Suite from here which includes NSU:-

When asked to connect to any of these I would recommend the USB connection and select the connection type on your phone as PC Suite.

I know this sounds radical but it works.

Good luck!
