Xerxes

Advantages of N86 over N95:
Bigger screen (it seems bigger)
Brighter screen (AMOLED is good, but not brilliant in sunlight)
More memory (phone and RAM)
Smoother slide and dual slide available
Camera is excellent
Kickstand

Advantages N95 over N86:
Better sounding loud speakers

That's about it as far as I am concerned ... being a S60v3.2 device there are some additional advantages in the software, but that goes for any S60v3.2 over an S60v3.1!

Have a look at some reviews and comparisons. That's what I did to choose the N86 over the N96.

yes rob and both will work fine on the n86

navmii can be had for 45 pounds it has fer updates for a year and has great customer support they have just released and updated version so youll get a nice shiny working version with improved routing and garmin xt is a bit more expensive around 60 pounds for uk and Ireland maps and about 80 90 pound with whole of Europe .

:con? Not really sure what this is in reference to? It doesn't seem to have any bearing on the advantages or disadvantages of upgrading from N95 to N86!!

I just registered because I seen this thread. I've recently upgraded from an N95 to an N86 myself 😊

What rob says is definitely right, especially about the slider and camera. The slider just feels a lot less clunky - the entire thing just feels like a smooth sliding pebble. There's also some decent sampling from the camera here. With the expanse of storage space and RAM upgrades, there's more room for apps, and they'll run considerably faster.

I also find the N86 picks up a GPS lock much faster. This goes incredibly well with the latest firmware update which has added free voice navigation to the Ovi Maps application. Other little quirks I enjoy are the unlocking switch on the side of the handset, notification/"breathing" light and the standby screen with app shortcuts, calendar etc.

If I had to find a fault, it'd be SIM card removal. Can be a bit tricky for fat fingered people like myself (slides into a slot rather than being in a cage, like the N95) :P
