Patch Tuesday: Nokia E51 gets v410.34.001

In the run up to their Q1 2010 earnings call, Nokia are getting a number of firmware updates out the door. The Nokia E51 has now had a big update, from v300.34.56 to v410.34.001 firmware, available as a 80MB download through Nokia Software Update or Ovi Suite. A full backup and restore is needed for the E51, since it's old enough not to have User Data Preservation.

Read on in the full article.

The same update goes to E71 as well...just saw that from Ovi Suite update now.

Off topic, but just to get you to start another thread guys...

The E72 (for generic/Euro codes at least) gets FW v31 today too.

Have sent you a tweet, but screen-grab attached too...

198MB download, so it's a biggy...

EDIT to add:

It was probably the quickest, and simplest update I have ever done, taking mere seconds.

And at the end of it, I didn't even need to re-change my LOCK code, which even with UDP I have found always still gets reset before now.

At the end of it ALL my apps are still there, and moreover, whilst I suspect this new FW includes the new Ovi Maps for free, v 3.03, as I had already updated to yesterday's beta latest 3.04, it has even kept Ovi Mpas 3.04 as my version. Again it's never managed this before.

Looking around, I DO NOT spot the icon for internet Radio yet, as some people claim has been re-added, but I DO have a new "Adv Con Mgr" icon, for Advanced Connection Manager, which now seems ot be included free. But weirdly, I also have Birdstep Smart Connect with it's "SC" icon, that I swear was not there before. Now why would an FP2 device with "Destinations" in-built, get SmartConnect. So maybe it must have been on my memory card added by me - I just don't recall this, or would know why.

Other than that, all seems the same, as I can't really say what it includes in FW, as I had added most everything already myself, such as Communities, Latest Maps, Ovi Store, etc etc.

Hope this helps, and remember folks, this relates to the Nokia E72, not the 5800 as per the title, as I suspect Steve or Rafe will create a thread for this once they see the news, and move my post over...

Cheers.

I lost maps with this firmware update!
OVI Maps 3 download is not available for E51 - this model is not listed.
You can select and download Nokia Maps 2.0, but then you get error message "This application cannot be started, please download updated version from nokia.com/maps".
