More firmware updates as the Nokia 5800 v50 goes global. After a few sporadic sightings yesterday, the popular touch-screen device is receiving kinetic scrolling throughout the interface, performance updates in a number of applications and updating others to the latest version.

Does anyone know what 'Browser 7.2' means? what are the improvements?
And what about 'Hurriganes Music Player'? And 'Gimlet Touch 2.2'?
I am not seeing it om my 5800 yet (RM-356)
And what is ovi sync 2.0?
I hope that in their current firmware frenzy the N97 will be next...
omg.. On my 0578313 I can't even update to the 40 version.. and I bought it unbranded from amazon... that seriously sucks 😞
People with wrong product codes CHANGE IT FFS! It's easy.
This is glorious, the phone has just improved so much its unrecognisable from the V11.
FANTASTIC NOKIA!
The 5800 sure gets some loving frm nokia. .has this phone had the most updates like ever! Iv lost count. . .

Amen my man, Amen. And the n97 mini too... (cause that is what I have. 😊)
Does anyone know what 'Browser 7.2' means? what are the improvements? And what about 'Hurriganes Music Player'?
the new browser like that in the new fw of n97 has auto full screen + full kinetic scrolling + some other minor bugs fixed.
the new music player is again like n97's or x6's player, which displays the album art on the left of the track name while in the list, and also displays the first letter of the selection while scrolling the list using the scrollbar like in n97/x6 (or those clickwheel ipods, if u rmmbr).
can anybody please post which product has received this update

I haven't been able to do my update yet, I have to wait until I get home tonight, but the usual is Euro 1 Black: 0573736.
If you don't have the right code, no problem just change it.
If you are not confident changing it, take it to a Nokia repair centre and ask them to update it for you.
Finally we get full kinetic scrolling in the menu! Ovi maps 3.03 is also welcome in Z: to save even more space in c: but I hope quickoffice v6 is in there too.
N97 firmware update should be imminent too as their last one was a week or two after v40 for the 5800.
As for people debranding: supposedly when you connect to NSU, your phone IMEI is sent and Nokia can tell what firmware and product code you updated from and to and can see your original factory PC. Ofcourse, there are other ways of updating.. 😛

Gonna upgrade tonight
I updated today, loads of new things , the browser get a much needed update!!, also music player especially the podcasting is easier to use and supports album art at last!!, Also K. scrolling in the menus!, I 've lost count of the number of updates since v20 , anyhow keep it going nokia, u get there eventually!!
i just updated through OTA and am i missing something no quick office
After upgrading to 50.0.005 firmware, Ovi Store ask to update to new version. Have they put an old version into the firmware?
Software Update still has Ovi Contacts 1.20 on the list. So again, either the version in the firmware is older or something is wrong.
Finally the interface is consistent (same scrolling method everywhere). And fantastic improvement in music player - pausing or resuming playback does not take one second any more! 😊
I also upgraded to this latest version with ease but see no QuickOffice, and I also was prompted to update the OVI store client to 1.06 (18).
I also upgraded to 50.0.005 firmware with ease but see no QuickOffice, and I also was prompted to update the OVI store client to 1.06 (18).
On some site, I also noticed about mentioning of 'Hurriganes Music Player' and 'Gimlet Touch 2.2'. What is it? Any idea?
"hurriganes" music player stands for N97's music player and gimlet touch is nokia messaging/email touch
excellent but which region has the quickoffice 4.2? I'm in australia and have a blue 5800 with no quickoffice. Thanks
Awesome:
*Browser works great
*Music player awesome
*Caller settings useful
*Menu is finally consistent & usable as the rest!
The suck!:
*No quickoffice... Booo
*No T9 on qwerty
*Selecting multiple items still annoys the hell out of me & have to use a 3rd party pencil emulater
*Still no proper note taking app thats can store photos & sounds as well as text which was present in older phones but got phased out
lol, the new music player is awesome and stuff, but seems they removed Find, as with the X6. Ewan will love that :P
Once again, it proves that Nokia has great after sales service like no other.
Oh man,i just updated my firmware and it ROCKS i just love more and more every day all day my phone, nokia is the best.
Nice..FOTA download about 10mb. Did not do any hard reset, but I deleted previously installed ovi maps beta 3.04 and this released 12mb of precious C drive.
Guys i have downlaod the files from NAVIFIRM how do i get it to my hP??
the X factor of the phone just went up 10 levels.......this is why i never buy symbian from samsung or se.....nokia doesnt abandon a device, and god knows they need all the nurturing they can get,,,,,after almost a year, it finally feels like my 5800 is a mature phone now....

Wow, if this is what I think it is (and after using the new firmware for a full day today, I would hazard a guess that it is), this is probably the most welcome firmware update ever.
For those of you who have seen the dreaded screen corruption issue, this appears to have addressed it. I've gone through a whole day without having any display corruption, even after trying to deliberately cause it by quickly locking and unlocking the phone (which is what seemed to trigger it for me consistently before).
Hope I'm not speaking too soon. It almost seems too good to be true.
any news of 5800 NAM firmware update?
are the features now at par with x6?
I have update my mobile Nokia 5800 with the latest firmware yesterday and i had the following issues
1. When i select the Contact Bar option from my Settings->Phone->Home Screen. The contact bar size & resoultion is too big and 4 contacts does not fit on the screen
2. Media button does not show me all my songs and playlist, wheras i can view all my songs through the new search ->internet & my content on my Home screen
3. Sometimes the media button hangs
4. Alarm does not snooze or stop, it keeps ringing and gets hung up
5. I do not have any new music player as mentioned
Does anyone have similar issues
