E72 - Skype Problem?

4 replies · 19,196 views · Started 05 May 2010

Ive had my E72 for about a week or so, have downloaded Skype, but have also downloaded and installed fring.

Since then , Ive signed into Skype and sent a few SMS messages, but never tried calling anyone else. I tried it last night, and the call just would not connect, giving a pop up error message like Unable to call contact name. This was a Skype to Skype call.

So, tried signing into fring, all my Skype users came up, I tried calling the same contact Skype to Skype and it worked fine.

Went back into Skype, tried the same person again, just wouldnt work. Any ideas why I can call that contact from fring, but not from the native Skype application?

TIA.

Well, I've solved my own problem.

i did try making a few more،calls using،the Skype application, but without sucess, all the incoming calls worked fine using fring,

i uninstalled Skype, which was installed onto the memory card and then re-installed but this time onto the phone's memory and now it works without fault. Maybe cos I'm in a good 3G area but calling UK landlines and also UK mobiles were very clear call quality.

:frown:

Skype again fails to work properly. Had to do the same, uninstall it, then re-install, but again, it wasn't working as it should.

Will maybe try a hard re-set on the phone, and then install again.

What I found was that I had Skype AND fring both installed, and I think somewhere there was a bit of a conflict going off.

So, deleted both programmes, did a hard re-set on the phone ( #7370* ) and then built up the phone again from scratch. Re-installed Skype ( stored onto the phone's memory, NOT SD Card ) and now it runs perfectly.

I preferred Skype, as it allows me to send SMS's to other phones, whilst the fring app doesn't allow me to use Skype SMS service, and I also have bought an onlune Skype number for people to ring me on a UK landline number.
