The first fruit of the enterprise alliance between Microsoft and Nokia, which was announced in August year, is now available. Microsoft Communicator Mobile for Nokia, a 'unified communications client', is now available in Nokia's Ovi Store for the Nokia E72 and E52. The application ties in to Microsoft's Office Communications Server 2007 product; it offers the ability to view colleague's status and then choose the most appropriate communication method - instant messaging, email, text or voice call.

I could really do with this. Unfortunately, I jumped to N900.
I can picture it now. IT departments all over the world will be appraising it and declaring it to work well. Cost analyses will be performed and it will be found to be the most cost effective solution. However, just before deployment, the pointy-haired-bosses will veto it.

Of course, you know what the really big problem is here? Despite the popularity of S60 and the number of different devices running it, this software is only available for 2 of them. This level of fragmentation is a *huge* problem in my eyes, and undermines the whole point of buying into any one OS; hopefully, this is something Nokia will sort out in the future....

just tried it on the n97, installs and runs fine, but no connecting back to my sip server, not sure what settings they use yet haha, but to reiterate, works fine on the 5th series phone N97

ah, well...from some nefarious ways............................
OK...
I've also managed to acquire the SIS file (by hacking the User Agent String) and install it on my phone (an E-66), and after continuing the installation after the version compatability warning the application is installed.
However, even though the installation had an icon in the Installations folder, the application doesn't start. Any ideas? What did you have to do to get it going on the N97?
Well, I have my own Nokia E72, And I using this application to this phone, And the application connects directly with a company�s communications systems to streamline mobile collaboration. It allow me to see my colleagues� availability, and click to communicate with them using the best method, from IM to email, text to phone call.
