Nokia continued to push both their mapping service and the customisation potential of the smartphone with the release of Own Voice this week, which allows you to record your own vocal package for the turn by turn directions in Ovi Maps. How easy is it to use? Ewan finds out (below)...

Nice program and will follow Evan on this post

Unfortunately it doesn't work on my Nokia 5230 - "cannot connect to the server"
Every second post on Ovi have this problem - lot of 5800 phones

Nokia gives no feedback or any info to solve this
I have tried everything from installing on the phone memory and not the card, to being logged in via Maps - nothing worked

unfortunately does not work on my E72 NAM. I downgraded to 3.03 just in case it was that. But no love I mean the voice pack was installed without a prob. But when I drive I get the default english with street names.
Trying the beta 3.04 I will post the results later.

Here some suggestions for Ewan's Voice Pack vs Ovi's Original :
Ovi : Turn Left
Ewan : Straight Ahead
Ovi : Turn Back !
Ewan : Stop Here . On The Right Side Is A Pub
Ovi : Turn Back !
Ewan : Arrived At Destination !

Nice idea but sadly a bit incomplete.

So far I've spotted "immediately" missing and a couple of other phrases. You can tell because the standard voice replaces them. In the case of my test file, at shouting level because I had recorded quite quietly and was using Ovi Maps at full volume.

Driving whilst bouncing off the ceiling is interesting 😊

cut your fingernails, wash your hair, just clean everything a bit.
