Usually, I allow the handset to search for the AP...

Menu->Settings->Connectivity->Destinations->Add new acc.pt.->Automatically check for available access points?->Yes

Once you click Yes, and select the found AP, you will automatically be prompted "Pre-Shared key for WLAN _________________"

Is this the process you used, or did you add your AP manually?

P.S. The pre-shared key is not a username, it's an encryption key for your router. If you are being prompted for a username you may have selected the wrong AP.
For example, I am an BTInternet customer and my router shows 3 APs. (In BTs case, I do not select the BTFON or BTOpenZone APs as they wont work.)

You are right i also did the same but username password is the requirement from the side of internet service.
well can you please contact me on

I shall be very very thankful to you.
Waiting for your kind response via email.
thank you.

Ah well I thought you were using your own private router, which usually doesn't need a username & password.

In hot-spot areas (like pubs, restaurants etc), usually you just add the AP (with no WEP/WPA key required) as per my previous post,
then launch the WEB appr and you will be prompted for the username and password.

You may need to configure the WEB app options to use the Internet group connection as it may currently be defaulting to 3G/GPRS data connections.

You may also need to go to Settings->Connectivity->Destinations- and ensure the new AP is (a) part of the Internet AP group, and (b) higher priority than 3G/GPRS.

If none of this works, you would have to contact your ISP or the company who runs the hot-spot.

Thanks for the solutions and for posting out this issue. I have the same issue with my phone although a different unit. Its one of the great endeavours of cellphone users which is trying to connect to a wireless connection. Unless it is well configured already by the phone manufacturer, it is sometimes a challenge to get things fixed. We all know that a lot of people is dependent on the internet and so trying to connect through our cellphones is just one great option to make.
