Ovi Maps v3.04 has today graduated from Nokia Beta Labs.

It is available via the handsets Software Update.

However, you can get an even more up-to-date version than that offered by the Software Update by going here:-

http://maps.nokia.com/ovi-services-and-apps/ovi-maps/free-downloads?intc=ncomexpserv-fw-ilc-lft-con-na-ncomexpserveu-g0-20-getfreenavigationleft_0x0#/nokia-5800-xpressmusic/

and downloading the Nokia 5800 Music version (v3.04(165)) to your PC and installing it from there.

Great tip that for getting the SIS package ...

... is now copied into my "N97 rebuild" folder, along with :

MailForExchange(2.9.208)_S60_5_0.sisx

First impressions faster and smooth. Minor setback it took 15MB off the C drive. I hope this Maps will be included in future firmware update.

I found the same ajeet, I then turned off the phone. When I restarted it I checked again and it was back to 18MB.😃

i've been using my n97 for the last hour or so, i can honestly say the whole phone feels faster.

Screen transitions, web browsing, just generally feels more responsive.

Anyone else seeing this behaviour?

I did see some minor improvement. The maps update also included alot of additions. Look at the installation log, 18 new additions were installed including the maps application. Saw Symbian OS pipes upgrade, Upgrade for open C amongst them. I don't know what these are for. Perhaps these could have attributed to the overall improvement. I do hope the next firmware will include all of these. This update took almost 15MB off C drive. The previous maps 3.03 was in the firmware.

I've got the same thing here. My N97 is more responsive and has improved with regards to speed when turning it on and opening applications. This is one great improvement for the unit as it makes it easier to navigate. I've always thought about how I could get rid of the lag myself but it seems that Nokia has found its way to deal with it. Thanks for bringing it up and giving it a proper solution.
