L + " " = T; Is there any other way?

16 replies · 2,492 views · Started 22 March 2003

I find it very irritating when i'm taking down notes or any other entry and I right the letter "I" or "l" then make a space after it, it turns into a "t" 😞
You have to pause for a few seconds for it to write a space " " normally. Is there any other way to write a space aside from the usual dash on the lower part (letter entry part) of the screen?

and also is there an undo button?
My worse situation was Ihad around a 40 liner note that i was taking and accidently I eraced a big block of words and voila, they were all gone, no way to bring them back  Those were very important notes to me and there was no way I could ask the speaker to redo his speech just for me 😞

there is a way, when you write the "l" try to write it on the right side of the screen and then draw the dash on the left side of the screen and not on the same place that you wrote the letter "l". this should help. Ok, but i have another question though, how on earth do you write these "#", ":" it is not really clear.........

Hey, it worked! Thanks! 😊

for the ":" and "#" sign you need to do an upstroke first then right them as is. This isnt in the manual, I just found this out by accident coz I got use to the palm strokes which also uses this style.

Remember you to do this quickle are .03 sec between strokes.

Heres a diagram:

Cool tip man!!
The upstroke thingie also works for other signs like $, %, ", =, +, ~,<>, {}, []
Couldn't work out how to do an underscore _ tho. 😊

It doesn't work for me. It must be a software version.
What software version have you got?

I have
Phone: CXC162002 R1D
Bluetooth: CXC12529 R2C
Organiser: CXC162001 R1G05
CDA: CDA162001/5 R2A04

I'm gonna call my local SE service centre and check if I can get an upgrade.

I've spoken to SonyEricsson UK and they confirm that the current software version in the UK is
Phone: R1D
Organiser: R1G05

I guess I have to wait for a while 😞

You dont have to wait coz you already have the latest, are you sure you can do it?

i've tried as you've mentioned so many times but what comes up is "=". I've tried it above, below and in line with the arrow. When I try other variation I get "".

Damn, well tough luck, then, why dont you take it to SE?

LOL, underscores are easy! 😉

Do the upstroke first, then draw a dash or space symbol from RIGHT to LEFT, on the RIGHT of the upstroke, then draw a dot on the RIGHT of the dash you've just made. Couple of trys, you should all have it perfected! 😃

:b day: duh, i should have read your instruction carefully. how stupid of me. I got to to work after reading the help section in the P800.

TIP: There are more extended characters detailed in Help, Handwriting Recognition, Extended characters.

Thanks! So thats how it works. Iaccidently did it once and never found out how. I also found out from testing your instrutions that it doesnt have to be on the right of the upstroke 😃 All you have to do is do the upstoke, then a dash(wherever part of the screen) and a dot on top of it 😊

Fair do's, i've always done it to the right out of habit, so that's what i tell people - but good to know it doesn't matter either way! 😊

Cool, works the same on R380s too, I never figured it out but now I know, cheers...

Also works for (more difficult), the euro 'E', the German 'ss' and the function 'f'. And more useful, the degree symbol (as in Celsius or Fahrenheit) drawn as a sigma. It probably has a whole host of symbols that it compares to.
