t9 predictive text in Spanish wanted — Nokia Nseries S60 5.0 phones (Nokia N97 and Nokia N97 mini)

Hi all

I tried to find out if there was a similar thread on this but couldn't - I'm not that tech savvy!

I recently bought a Nokia n97 mini in black. I was dissapointed to find that the t9 predictive text writing languages only come with English, Dutch, French and German. I write a lot of texts in Spanish and would ideally like to add this language to the phone. I would be happy to replace one of the other languages if that helps - e.g. without wanting to offend, I don't think I'll ever need Dutch.

I've googled my head off trying to find a fix but just can't find anything, and I can't believe that a language that is so widely spoken is not possible to put onto a phone.

Please, if you know of an app, or a fix, or anything that I can do (preferably in laymans language) I would greatly appreciate it.

Basically, you will need to debrand your N97 mini to a Product Code that supports the Spanish language pack.

As you don't mention what your present Product code and firmware is (*#0000# on the dial pad) I cannot make any recommendations as to which Product code to change to.

I could find the product code - and thanks for the links on this, but before I do, can you tell me...

If I change the product code, will this change the phone language?

I only want to have the option to use Spanish on occasion for sending sms texts. I want the phone to be in English at all other times.

Will your suggestion enable me to achieve this?

Yes you could change the writing language in Settings > Phone > Language > Writing language.

Obviously it depends on the RM code of your phone as to which product codes are available to you and hence, which languages they support. RM codes are shown with the product codes on the link I gave you.
