SPB Mobile Shell, which received a rapturous welcome in the Symbian world a few weeks ago - for those that had enough RAM to run it - has had a major update. V3.5.5 uses 10MB less RAM (i.e. half that of the launch version) and also adds a media player widget. The full changelog is below.

Any you were wondering where Mr Unregistered was Steve lol, dont like the price dont buy it - Simple

I tried it out on my N97 Mini but had to get rid of it when it kept causing Ovi Maps to crash due to the excessive RAM usage. I may have to try it again now though....

Anyone know if SPB can be used across multiple phones, or at least transferred a la Gravity? Might make the outlay a bit more stomachable!

I cannot find a way within the app to upgrade to the latest version. I guess I will download the trial and reactivate.

I think the 30 bucks would be a bit more... justified if this wasn't a simple port of their windows mobile version from years ago, with some widgets -removed-. Still waiting for their Shell 5.0, which is what they promised during their press release earlier this year. If it was 15 dollars or something, it would trump Gravity as the best Symbian app.

re: Tsunami. Err... sorry, I think we were talking at cross purposes - I was talking originally about the rumoured 'Tsunami' firmware build for the Samsung i8910 HD. Remind me of the URL of the thing you were meaning.....

I like when people complain about a 30$ program for a 500$ phone. Don't buy it.

It absolutely transforms the n97 into what it should have been a year ago and more. The homescreens, yes homescreenS, are reason enough. The carousel of shortcuts is cool and the level of personalization should be a considerable source of embarrassment to Nokia.

interesting~~~! looking forward for the SPB mobile shell for my P1i UIQ3 platform.

Tried Wm6 & Android platform on my P1i but most device not working. hope this SPB mobile shell will be my temporary UIQ3 platform interface soon before P1i Android opensource platform is ready...

Have SPB said they will support UIQ? this is purely for touchscreen s60 5th edition as far as I understand.
