Another day, more major firmware updates from Nokia, this time for even older devices, again rolling Maps 3.3 with free navigation into the ROMs - excellent to have. v500.21.009 for the two year old E71 and E66 also brings the very latest editing version of Quickoffice and latest Ovi Store client, plus bumps to Music player and to Lotus Notes Traveler, among the usual minor improvements and fixes.

Was just about to reinstall after Podcasting slowed to a crawl again.. Just checked, nothing yet. :frown:
On one side I'm happy my two year old E71 still gets updates on the other side not this whole delete apps before update then reinstall them again after the update because the back up on your memory card doesn't work properly 😞 I dont know if I even should update, I already have O Maps 3.3 installed and the latest Ovi store is no benefit to me since I never use it because there aren't any good apps/games on it anyway.
Well what the hell I guess tonight I'll be 2 hours busy doing this all over again for the 4th time already, not because I need it but just for the hell of it. I'm passing this phone to my wife once I get my iphone 4 but then again the whole antenna issue has got me thinking if I should get an Android or wait for the N8 slider. The only problem I have with Nokia is Apps, there aren't any good apps and the app store is a joke.
So Steve, are you also abandoning Symbian just like your colleagues did @symbianguru?
hehe symbian-guru just put the pressure on Nokia, the N8 dare note fail, can't help but think Nokia should be going after RIMS enterprise market rather than slugging it out with google and apple
The 500xxxx firmware is NOT available yet on Nokia Software Updater. At least for my Indonesia product code.

re the podcasting complaint in the first comment: wow, I thought it was just me. Glad to see I'm not seeing ghosts after all. re the update, very glad to see the E71 is still being updated, however will still wait to see if its available for my phone. Just got the (what was it - 410?) last update a couple weeks ago. Some girl at Nokia was wrong in telling me that I had to wait until OVI suite said it was available. I finally tried some little updater program and it worked.
It's nice to see there are upgrades, but it would be nicer to know what product codes successfully upgraded, since Nokia doesn't release their upgrades worldwide...
My 0567045 RM-346 EURO A UK/IRELAND GREY STEEL phone says there are no updates, which is unfortunate, as i formatted the phone expecting to upgrade it :/

...the update isn't _really_ available via NSU, but all the opportunistic firmware sites have a copy. I wonder when we'll get updates properly distributed - after all, we paid good money for unlocked phones.

I just checked Nokia's production server for updates and its not available for any manufacture codes (RM-xxx) so I'm not sure if this has been actually released to the public yet.

Yes, I can confirm that my E71, product code 0575946, of Indonesia black steel variant, has got the update to version 500.21.009 via Nokia Software Updater. Still downloading the 128.4 MB update file now... hope it brings a lot of improvement.

Now available here in the UK via NSU. Now to put aside a day to back up, install new firmware and reinstall my apps...
Just updated and now I can't get on wifi! Grrr
Edit: I can get on WiFi, it is just that the OS was letting me log on to the router with the wrong password!
Other than a Facebook bookmark and a MySpace app, which has so far failed to connect, I see no difference.

and for my UK, on 3, E71, still indicating
latest software is 410.21.010.
Where did you find the latest 500.xx.xxx version?
