Big Roll in Paradise is thrown under the review microscope

"It's a cross between an adventure game and carpet bowls..." From such a startling mix comes 'The Big Roll in Paradise', created by Symbian legends Infinite Dreams and reviewed here by Ewan Spence. The core engine is a physics-perfect implementation of Bocce, in which you throw a jack and then vie with another player to throw your bocce/boules to roll closest to it. Accessible to casual players but with long term goals for more serious gamers - and with mini-games and side-quests to enjoy along the way, The Big Roll in Paradise comes highly recommended, it seems. The introductory 'free' offer may be over, but it's still a steal at £1.50.

I have been hooked on to this game ever since I downloaded it. I just wish the multiplayer component had wifi / bluetooth support. This is a really awesome game.

Is it me, or has Ewan been spending rather a lot of time recently playing games and stuff. Has anyone living at Symbian Towers thought to poke their head around his bedroom door to check everything's ok?

Now.. if only I could get it to work on my i8910! with things such as that N8 in the main pic, you'd think it would be a great idea if they got it to work on our devices- good way to advertise your phone right?

I would only wish they would develop more games like this, but with varying genres for non 3D hardware accelerated handsets like Nokia 5800, N97, and X6.

This is a great game, I agree with the last point, as I'd really love to see Creatures of the deep for 5th edition.

Amazing game.

And good on the battery life too - played for over 2hrs, left it running in the background for several more and my battery was still full of life.

Only criticism is that it's a tad easy I would say - although that's what 2player mode is for, right?

Shame it has taken A WHOLE YEAR for Nokia to get someone to develop something as good as this for their flagship phone. In comparison, the N95 had a ton of great games... Many of them made by Infinite Dreams so kudos to them for coming up with this and not jumping ship.

Just wish there was a 5th Edition K-Rally - the much-maligned directional pad on the N97 was made for games like that!

So would I - especially as this game name-checks it when you win the N8 from one of the players!

Even more than that: Reset Generation. Simply the best game I've ever played on a mobile. Ah well,
