One of the biggest blights on Internet forums in the last year has been a deluge of spam for commercial DVD ripping software - well, such products may just be even more redundant with Freepoc legend Malcolm Bryant's latest mini-project, DvdToSymbian, a special script for the freeware VLC (for Windows) that effectively offers a one-click route from (non-copyrighted) DVD to a nHD movie file for a S60 5th Edition smartphone. This sounds good Steve, any idea of bitrates/end file sizes/formats etc?
Hi,
Video bitrate is set to 1500, but can easily be permanently or temporarily changed in the script - it is assigned to a variable. The audio bitrate is set to 128. The file size depends on the length of the film, but let's say 1.2G for a typical film - well within the size of a typical 8G or 16G memory card. Of course changing the video bitrate makes the file correspondingly smaller or larger.
The resulting file format is MPEG4 video / AAC audio in a MP4 wrapper, which plays nicely in the default RealPlayer (Video Player) application on S60v5 devices.
Best regards,
Malcolm

Hi,
I can try to write similar for MAC, but i don't know about Windows DOS commands, so can't figure out what each of your settings/commands mean.
I am not expert, hence this confusion.
Nice information.............
