I've been looking into this and apparently, it decides to do this as it works out cheaper to send a long concatinated SMS (i.e. x4 SMS's) as an MMS
So how does this work when you have a contract that give you "unlimited sms messages" but charges you for MMS's ??
Is there a way from stopping my phone from automatically converting a long SMS into an MMS ?
An idea's ??
There might be a smarter solution , but for now I am thinking of this :
You could delete your MMS Access Point . Or in Settings you can enter a password . When the phone is going to send a MMS , it will ask the password first . In such a situation , devide the SMS into 2 or more parts and send them separately ?

Have just found out its an issue with all S60 phones.
In each Nokia S60 phone, when composing the text message, if you click on;
Options > Sending Options
Change the message type from Automatic to Text, this keeps a long text message as "text" and doesnt' convert it to MMS
Still looking into a way to set this as default
