Nokia Messaging sync problem

5 replies · 6,842 views · Started 30 July 2010

Hi all, i have a recurring problem with Nokia Messaging on my N97. It seems to be all over the place with its syncing. I had it set up to check for emails 8am-10pm at night and every hour but half the time I get woken up with it going off at night time, sometimes 3am!
It happened before i upgraded to v22. i did a hard reset as well and re-installed it.
Anyone have any suggestions to fix the problemn?

Hi Craig.B

You could always turn off email alert in general settings (at least it would not wake you up)_ I have this switched off and just use email widget to list incoming emails on desktop - therefore I am not disturbed every 30 mins.

Do you have a weak signal - I have found that the email is sometinmes only received when signal increases.

Unfortunately I am on Vodafone and have therefore not got v 22 yet to compare

Thanks

Boothy

You're lucky to get the email to sync at all. Right now, others and I found that the email syncing hasn't worked since 5pm Pacific Daylight time Tuesday, July 27.

Anyway, you may want to check any other accounts. Perhaps different accounts have different schedules.

I have it set up to use gmail, ovi mail and also my isp email. My main use is with gmail and it seems to be syncing 24/7. I have a feeling its a constant connection as the battery seems to be going down quicker than before.
i have uninstalled it now, might install it again. If i have time i may try a full firmware re-install as there are a couple of other annoying issues

Before I did a recent hard reset I had a problem where after a couple of days Nokia Messaging would just stop syncing all together - the only way I could ever get it going again was to reinstall it!
I did get a notification today that there was a software update for Nokia Messaging though, and it did then download and install something, dont know the exact version number before but I assume it's a minor update..can't see any differences! Might be worth a try in case there's a bug fix in there that sorts your problem?

I installed version 10.2 from the software update, cant remember if I had this one previously. Seems to behaving itself so far (touch wood)
