my phone is nackerd!
im getting the white screen of death all the time and it wont turn on! ive tried giving it the four finger salute but no joy.
ive even tried connecting it through NSU but it wont recognise there is a phone connected, i guess cuz i wont turn on.
i was going to try to fix it by throwing it at a wall very hard, but then i thought i should consult the vast knowlege of the all about symbian crew before i attemt drastic measures!
thanks in advance people
sorry mate, should of said really shouldnt I... its a black n97.... its going to be in bits shortly tho!
You will need to do a "hard reset" which will delete everything on your C: (phone) memory I'm afraid.
If you have backed up your phone, either using PC/Ovi Suite or the built-in phone back-up, DO NOT restore "settings" as this is probably your problem.
For "hard reset" instructions see here:-

Some might say that's the best thing to do with it....😃
Seriously, it's still a good phone in terms of features, having played around with others since I got rid of my N97.
When I used to hard re-set mine, I used to restore and back up from the memory card. But the one time I didn't do that, I found worked far better and more responsively. So, I reckon the best way to 'manage' the N97 is to keep it as streamlined as possible. Build it back from the hard re-set by only re-installing what you really need to, and IMHO, this is the best way to keep the N97 running in tip top form.
reflash the firmware using JAF in dead mode. should do the trick.

That seems a lot of trouble to go to when a quick hard reset will do the job.
Unless, of course, you like flashing!
