What is firmware?
If a phone has English firmware that is not supported by nokia USA can it work in Australia? If not, are there ways to fix this?

The only way a phone can be limited to another network, is if it is Network locked, in which case it has to be unlocked before you can use it. The firmware (the operating system of your phone), has nothing to do with this. As you phone is tri-band, you can use it almost anywhere in the world :P 😃
If your phone is network locked, we can unlock it remotely for you if you provide us with your IMEI and network name.
