Did anyone ever solve this? I've seen numerous threads discussing it but they all tail off without a resolution.
For various reasons I had to reflash my E90 the other day and I assumed this would fix the problem (factory settings, virgin phone) but today it returned. It really bugs me even though it seems to have no effect on any functionality.

Oh, by the way - is the clamshell QWERTY form factor communicator now dead, or are there any rumours of an E90 replacement?
