Differences in US model?

Hi folks,

I have checked the FAQs and cannot find the information I'm looking for. Hopefully you folks can help me.

I have been offered a P800 for a ridiculously low price but am told it was originally bought in the US. My question is - is there a difference between a 'US' spec phone and a European one? (I live in The Netherlands)

Secondly - is there any way to tell if the phone that you get is a Beta version or if not , how does one check the firmware revision?

Thirdly (!) - is it possible to upgrade firmware yourself or should it be done only by 'authorised SE..blah' ?? (... at one point computer manufacturers told us that upgrading the motherboard bios ourselves was 'dangerous' 😃 )

Thanks in advance.

1. No, there's no difference. It's a triband phone hence it works in Europe as well as the US.

2. You can check the phone firmware once you have got the phone in your hands. Post the firmware number here and we'll be able to determine if it's old or new.

3. No. The manual for the P800 is clearly stating there's suppossed to be some sort of self upgrade scheme HOWEVER it's not yet released and it's not going to be in a while.
This is information I've gathered from emailing SE customer support.

Cheers for the info.

Something else: I keep hearing on one hand that Predictive text is NOT possible, but then other websites say it is. Any insight?

I saw in a brochure, I think it was the CarPhoneWarehouse catalogue, that Predictive Text was listed as a feature! Maybe they got it wrong.
