Just been to Tescos and picked up the latest catalogue winter 2010

In there is the N8 for 299 could be a print error but worth keeping an eye on

Thats good if correct

Play.com as it listed at 419.99 for pre order early october- but only the black version at present (silver listed but no date schedule)? no other colours present.

Boothy

Crikey, that's one helluva price - they'll be inundated. Or it's a misprint....

Are they still obliged to sell them at that price, if it's a mistake? Can they sell one handset priced at 299 and then declare that they sold out, and the new batch will be 400+?

page 617 just waffles on about the "triple you credit" and 5 favourite numbers.

The catalogue does not have any contract phones inside only pay as you go !

This is their xmas catalogue that was sitting on pallets outside the store. They must of printed off thousands upon thousands of them, surely it cant be a print error ?

every little helps :icon14:

Any way to unlock it?

T-Mobile allow you to unlock 3 months after the sim is first activated. It costs 20-25 and takes a month to get the code.

Still a good deal though.

That is still an excellent price - I read somewhere today ( GSM Arena or T3 can't remember which one ) saying it was available now on Nokia Online Pre Order for 429.

My issue isnt the price, although obviously I will be looking for the best deal.

My biggest concern is how the phone is going to work. I have been a Nokia person since the 101 and have been seriously let down by the N97.

Can I trust Nokia with my hard earned cash with the N8 as a move on from my N97?

I have been looking at other terminals and may go down the HTC route...

I may now wait a few weeks and see what the initial reactions are from people diving in to get the N8 as soon as it comes out to make sure i'm not half as dissapointed with the N8 as I am with the N97.

I think Nokia fail to realise that these are expensive pieces of equipment and I personally do not think the N97 lived up to expectations (or the price tag).

We shall see...

Gavin I too was frankly disgusted by the N97. the mini was better (I had one on trial for about a month and quite liked it but it wasn't all that).

I have a pre-release N8 and its so so much better, its not different as such - just fixes a huge amount of the niggly rubbish bits. and thats using a pre-release firmware, thats maybe crashed once in two weeks.

I'm blogging my findings - more frequently once the release firmware is out.

Macwhu, thanks for your reply.

I think it is well known that the N97 had multiple problems. I'm just not sure that I can go through another Nokia as bad as the N97... I will keep an eye on your blog. Thank you for sharing it.

I wonder in Nokia would consider taking back my N97 and giving me the N8 (as it is similar, but this one works?!)... Just a thought!
