Error Using Map Updater

For the last couple of months every time I run Nokia Maps Updater. It finds my phone and checks for updates and then gives me an error message.

Cannot get enough information about the phone [3], unspecified error.

I see from a search that this has been a common problem going back to 2009. Does anyone have a solution for it yet?

I find it a bit hit and miss sometimes the error sometimes it works.

and the times it does work I do nothing major apart from uninstall then re install or re boot both phone and pc.

Sorry not much help but just letting you know your not alone.
