I don't get it? How will it know which of all the characters on the tiny keyboard I smudge my fat fingers across is supposed to be the right ones?

For your specific scenario, unfortunately you need to use the full screen landscape version of swype.

Anyone used to a capacitive screen will have trouble with a resistive screen because the technique is slighly different, and will need some adaptation.

As I have been trying it out, I can tell you that Swype on resistive is not a waste of time and works perfectly well.

"kind of think" is really not good enough.

There are very real advantages to resistive screens (for example the other thread on here about how robust the N97s are - that robustness is partly down to resistive screen ability to withstand inpacts).

Great app, works well on my 5230. Buggy from time to time but nothing critic.
Btw Where Are we supposed to leave feedbacks and bug reports. I'd really like to help fixing it if I can.

You can leave feedback and bug reports at the Nokia Betalabs site. Thats the official feedback forum. It says so at the end of the demo video embedded by Rafe as well.

Never felt comfortable with Nokia's 'left-aligned' layout of QWERTY. Finally got a standard QWERTY layout on my 5800. But, it cant keep up with my typing speed while used as a tap-to-type keyboard. Any chance of it getting more responsive when it gets out of beta? How is it on other platforms when used for tap-typing? Anyone? Thanks. 😊

hey nokia! time to add 3d accelerator to our nokia 5800!!
