I think the p800 is a very versatile phone and in general really well crafted.
What I don't like is the design of the flip:
1. The flip is somewhat inconsistent with the design of the phone itself, as it is made out of plastic and looks cheap. And the allignment to the edge of the phone is just....weird...why make those "wings" sticking out to keep the flip "floating" over the touchscreen? Surely, there are a LOT of different ways to perform that trick.
2. I really don't like the buttons. They are (for me) way to hard to press down. And to make matters worse, the buttons needs to be pressed for too long (too "deep"😉 in order to press the screen below. In my opinion, the design of the buttons, together with the slightly ackward location of the jog-dial when using one hand, make the p800 a really poor device for thumb operated text input, and I find myself constantly switching to flip-open mode to write smses (which is a problem when being in a car, train or similar).
Conclusion: I don't know if SE decided to add a flip very late in the proces and as a result didn't put much efforts into designing the flip, but I would love to see a 2nd generation flip (any 3rd party developers outthere?)being designed and sold individually - a flip with style (no cheap plastic) and good buttons (I like the touch of Nokia 6210's buttons)!
I would be willing to pay quite a bit, say around $60-70. What about you?
If you want an honest poll, at least you should have added the option:
'Not a penny/dime/euro'
And that would have been my answer.

Sorry! You are right - I have added the option you've requested.
I dont use the flip anyway so I voted nothing, and you really shouldn't be texting whilst driving. Thats how Jamie Mitchell got killed  (you will only get this if you are from the UK)

I agree!! I would never do texting while driving! What I meant was that the bumping makes it impossible to use stylus, and thus thumb based input is required - but with the current design of the flip/buttons it's really a hassle...and simply just annoying.

Thanx.
I would LLooovvee to see an all transparent flip that actually covers all the screen. Then the screen underneath would be seen fully AND be fully protected. I'm talking about something really fine and elegant with the buttons made in almost transparent, using the screen as backlight. Full screen screensavers would cover the whole flip with colors.
Now, there's something interesting don't you think?
Transparent cover? That sounds pretty cool!
How about widescreen screen savers....?
And I fully support your request for a "elegant" finish.... 😮
Are you sure you don't have a faulty flip?
I certainly find it really EASY to press the buttons on mine. No worse than any other mobile phone I've ever used.
However, I *did* have a problem with it for a while after I got it. I went through the digitiser calibration, because it wasn't quite right for me. But that made some of the buttons practically impossible to press! In fact, it was so soon after I'd got the phone, and it didn't occur to me that it might be so sensitive to the position of the buttons, I really did think there was something wrong with my phone.
But I then reset the digitiser to its default settings and it's been fine ever since...
Hmm...I don't think it's faulty - the buttons work alright. I just don't like the "hard" buttons, as they require to be pressed too "deep".
It's like swithing from your beloved pc keyboard to an old fashion type-writer!

I really don't have to press the buttons very hard at all.
Perhaps you should try eating some spinach? 😮
