Hi there...
When i press on messages, and then settings, and then short message, i can choose a prefered connection, and in there i can choose GPRS... Does that mean that i can send SMS's for the price of GPRS. Fx it cost's 20 dkkr for 1 mb, and if one sms is about 2kb i can send 500 sms's for 20dkkr? If this is the case, can anyone then tell me the size of a sms?
SMS via GPRS
It determines the mechanism how the operator's message center gets the message. What the operator charges you for sending the message has nothing to do with that. In other words It will not be cheaper for you.
damn... I call'd ORANGE who told me that it would be like i first wrote, but i couldn't believe it... But what's the difference then?
The original (& still normally the default) way for a phone to transmit SMS messages is through, so called, circuit-switching signalling channels.
(Originally SMS was intended/designed for other purposes than person-to-person communications.)
Anyway, in either case, the billing record generated by the operator/carrier is identical (associating the subscriber with the message sent) & hence the user is billed in the same way regardless of the method that was used to get the message data to the relaying message center).
Also in addition you will be charged for the data transfer over GPRS:
Over CSD
Standard SMS cost = Ripoff cost per message
Over GPRS
Standard SMS cost + cost of DATA over GPRS = bigger ripoff

Not necessarily; that'll depend on the operator.
Obviously, price plan, billing systems, charge structure, but most would see the cost this way. If you had a GPRS or SMS allowance it may just use them up.
Basically what we are both saying is it is not worth doing!!!
