Nokia unpreprared for C7

I am having problems with my C7 restarting and I have a separate thread for that so that is not the topic of this thread. However, in an effort to try to resolve the restarting issue I have done a hard reset and also reloaded the firmware via Ovi Suite.

This has left the phone without Ovi Store and without Maps. They are no longer installed and what is more the web site doesn't even have the C7 on the list to allow me to download them. The N8 is there but they seem to have fogotten to add the C7.

The N8 has taken an age to launch in an effort to ensure that the out-of-the-box experience was a good one but it seems that they haven't learned that lesson for the C7.

I don't know how I can install Maps and Ovi Store... any ideas?

I am seriously thinking of returning this C7 for a refund.

I have had the same problems as you on my N8.

Thanks to many different communities, and NOT Nokia, I have been able to resolve most of my problems. So in order to help you here are two links. Download the linked files and click them to install with Ovi Suite installed. Pc Suite doesn't work with the N8.

To reinstall Nokia Social:

To Reninstall Qt. You need this for Ovi Store and Maps. You need to download and install both files:

Let me know if this helps you.

The same problem exists with the N8. Hard resetting removes Ovi Maps and the Qt runtime. The latter is needed for the Ovi Store and without it the store cannot be re-installed.

You can try:

1) Install Ovi Maps Beta and the QT 4.7 runtime:
2) Reinstalling your firmware via the standard firmware updater (it'll say no updated available and then offer to reinstall the existing firmware)
3) Taking it back to Nokia so they can fix the issue
4) Re-Flash your firmware using Pheonix.

The links for (1) above are:

After the Qt runtime is installed Ovi Store should be able to be installed according to problem reports I've seen about this.

Reinstalling the firmware will not work. The only way is the files we have linked or reflashed by Nokia Care. Poor showing from Nokia.

Thanks but the Nokia Social wouldn't install.

The qt was for development only.

Thanks for that but I really don't want to install via unofficial methods.

I have decided to get it reflashe by my local Nokia Care Centre tomorrow.

That's understandable. I did provide a link on that forum for Nokia Care (Yes, I am Lost on that forum, tried using the same name here but it was taken :tongue😊
