I edit labels all the time on my E71, though they do not get backed-up properly via PC Suite to Outlook. I read a forum post somewhere that said it is not possible to edit labels on the N8. Is this true? If so, might this be rectified/workaround-ed?
Editing labels
not been around since s60 v5 😊
no way as a workaround as far as i'm aware of (that's a very limited awareness, mind you 😉)
Haven't gone "touch "yet, so missed the omission on S60 v5 but am lusting after the N8. Why would they disable this capability?
compatibility, i would think.
Most desktop mail clients don't have the option to rename fields, so often, the data won't get copied over
Understood. I don't like that they don't get backed-up/transferred but I can live with that if I have to. Not having the ability at all on my handset, though...what about different cellphone numbers/email address for different people within an organization/family, etc. It exists anyway on S60 3.1. Nokia could clarify that label edits don't get transferred but why remove the capability/dumb-down the phone?
Oh, they keep doing this - adding a new feature and removing one that was present years ago.
The N95 had support for DLNA, the N8 doesn't.
My earlier N82 supported uPnP, the N8 doesn't.
S60 2nd edition had timed profiles, 3rd edition didn't until FP2 (nearly 3 years later).
S60 2nd edition let you permanently set permissions for Java apps so you wouldn't get prompted each time it tried to access the network, but 3rd edition never did, only now I noticed it was put back on the N8 (possibly 5th ed)
N95/N82 and E series had VOIP support out of the box - for the N8 you need to install a patch.
You get the picture 😞
