So i turned on my N8 today and noticed that it will never go into the stand by mode, it just dims the screen and shows the background instead of changing to the back screen with just the clock even if i slide the keylock
Any ideas?

its somewhere in the options 2 set the screenaver to big clock or somethin like that , but cant remember where exactly
Hi, I had the same problem with mine - I took my N8 back to carphone warehouse today and got a replacement as it stopped going into standby all of a sudden about 3 days ago(nobody in the store had a clue). I had changed no settings and as far as i am aware i had closed all apps that may have been keeping it "awake". What apps have you downloaded over the last day or so? just incase there is a pattern.

Mine also kept dropping wifi signal every 2 mins so think there was an issue with it. Has anyone had a problem with internet connections?
Change your Screensaver from Big Clock to None.. that will fix the issue.
I had the same thing. Hold the power key on top of phone until it powers down and vibrates 3 times (takes about 10 secs) apparently this is the equivalent of removing the battery. This solved the same issue for me 😊
