I love my N8 but I love it even more with the shell...

Is this a popular app? I wonder how many people use it.

I transferred my licence from my Satio to the N8.
Its nearly the same as the Satio .. I still need to tweak the odd app here and there.
I think there's a cut down version on the Ovi store .. but I can recommend the real thing .. there is a 15day trial ..
hmm.. Its definitely a good product and has done wonders to modernise S60v5 (especially for those models like the VIVAZ that doesnt do Kinetic Scrolling). However, the interface of S^3 is not too bad and can get away without using it in my opinion..
agreed with above comment

I don't doubt that the raw S^3 interface is improved .. but I've got used to SPB on the Satio (which runs S60v5) .. so for me it was a no brainer .. same interface with a couple of minor app tweaks I end up with a super-charged Satio
The SPB Shell is a really great product and really makes owning a Nokia phone a little more refreshing IMO.
I have installed the trial version and i love it. It is an expensive product though so i am trying to decide at the moment whether it is worth buying the full version
Good product - but I've seen it crash and reload if you switch to the contacts carousel and try to spin it around (on my N8).
Realistically though - how much "better" can these interfaces be? Just thinking the other day when some idiot journalist was saying "iphone still has a better interface".. but at the end of the day, Springboard (iphone shell) and the S60 menus just allow the user to pick their choice from a selection of icons/apps. you have 4 x 4 icons in iOS.. 3 x 4 in Symbian.. how does it make it better?
I agree about the kinetic scrolling (hence why I used SPBshell for Vivaz) - but what constitutes the interface to be "better" than another when its all just icons available for the user to click? I can also see the new pretty funky Android homescreens.. but please.. do not tell me the iOS having a "better" interface!
Apart from the carousel eye candy, does it offer anything?
What's battery life like once installed? and does it affect any of the default workings of the n8?
Just considering this but 30bucks seems a bit steep
to be honest monty i find it more annoying then usefull and even though the eye candy is nice i find the standard symbian ui more efficent and usefull to use
Thanks for the feedback buxz! Those was my thoughts exactly from watching the video but just wanted to confirm
it was on of the first things i installed on my n8. i really love it. and if add the three original homescreens plus the spb shell, you have 13 home screens,ha ha but i only use 3 screens on spb and the similar on the original.
i know buxz777 prefers the original, but i still like the the way spb works. its a good idea to install the trial then you have 15 days to play around with it
I installed the 15-day trial version on my N8, and had to uninstall it after about 24 hours. Kinda liked it in many ways, but the user interface is just too busy for my liking. Basically I don't want to spend too much time trying to reconfigure the SPB screens.
There's nothing wrong with the SPB shell itself though. It seemed to work well on N8.
