N8 T-mobile UK Settings

7 replies · 7,358 views · Started 21 November 2010

I have an unlocked handset and am unable to get the correct settings from T-mobile.
Can anyone with an N8 please let me know the WAP and Internet settings on there phone and maybe even the MMS settings?
The text setting service from T-mobile doesn't work with this phone yet.
Appreciated.

Hi,

All I can say is that I got a N8 on launch day direct from Nokia (orange, great camera!) and put my T-Mobile SIM in and it was working immediately. I have had no problems.

I dont use MMS, but the SMS and 3.5G internet works great. I have been able to make calls with it too 😉

I dont know how to find the settings you want, but tell me how to find and I can try to post.....

Thanks Steph.
There are a number of settings I need.
Obviously don't need WLAN settings.

The 1st under Settings > Connectivity > Settings > Destinations.
In any of your listed access points press access name and it will show up a list that has 8 tabs
What does it say under :
2. Data Bearer?
7. Authentication?
Then, pressing options brings up " Advanced Settings"
What do you have in the 5 tabs?

Then go back for Messaging settings, what do you have under :
Menu > Messaging > Options > Settings > Text Message
6. Preferred Connection?

Also back under :
Menu > Messaging > Options > Settings > Multimedia Message
3. Access point in use?

I know it's a lot to ask, but I would be grateful as this is starting to bug me now.
Thanks.

Data Bearer: Packet data
Authentication: Normal

Advanced settings (top to bottom):

IPv4
Automatic
Automatic
None
0

Menu > Messaging > Options > Settings > Text Message
6. Preferred Connection? == GSM/3G

Menu > Messaging > Options > Settings > Multimedia Message
3. Access point in use? = 'T-Mobile PictureMessage'

Hi Steph, Thanks for the settings.
Unfortunately, can you believe it, my phone just died, the dreaded power down.:icon13:
Hasn't lit up since.
Technically within my 28 days so off out to look for a refund/exchange.
Totally peeved😡

edit: got it to fire up again, left it in freezer for a couple of hours.
The only difference in mine is I can't set up T-mobile Picture Messaging.

As I had nothing better to do, I just rang up T-mobile about my phone settings especially as I couldn't no longer recieve MMS.
Since the N8 is avaliable via T-mobile there must be settings.
The lady I spoke to told me that on their automated system, my phone is still listed as an N79 which was why when setup text's were sent it didn't work.
All "4" correct settings have now been sent and everything is working a dream.

Im on a SIM only contract, so I guess that they dont know what phone Im using...

Im not sure I would leave my N8 in the freezer, it cant do the thing any good.....

Glad you are up and going.....

Yeah, been told it's a silly thing to do, but it worked this time. Won't be doing it again!
Just peeved off with the service I got from Tesco's.
Had the phone, sent off to be unlocked by them and by the time I got it back was over my return period!
Though I bought the phone nearly a month now, it's only been in my possesion 3 weeks.
Good phone though now that everthing is all sorted.
