Just got my N8 today after 18 months of (mainly) trouble-free N97.
Loaded up my music.
Disaster. The album and artist views appear to have been merged in the N8.
I listen only to classical musics and the album name is of the form Composer: Work. e.g. Schubert: Piano Trio 1
How do I order by album name, not artist. I want Schubert: Piano Trio 1 next to Schubert: Piano Trio 2. Not one filed under John Eliot Gardiner and the other under Karajan !
Is there a way to do this in the N8music player ?
Am I looking at a major re-tagging exercise using say dbpoweramp ?
Unfortunately, the music player is rather lacking in basic cataloging features and I don't think you can change the order. Nor can you search the catalogue!
I knew about this before I bought my N8 and I am hoping, as many N8 owners are, that Nokia will release a new music player with proper features.
It is just one of the ways that Nokia have let themselves down with this first Symbian^3 release.
Thanks for confirming it is Nokia's idiosyncrasy / idiocy not my inability to find the right option.
An hour or so's deleting, refreshing library, copying and playing around with dpoweramp batch converter and I've found a workaround.
