Some P800 newbie questions!

7 replies · 2,543 views · Started 27 March 2003

Right I've got my P800, I've found the manuals dis-organised and useless, so I thought you guys could help!

1a. When using the top-right button (looks like four blobs) to switch to the menu, does it actually close the current program or simply minimise it?

1b. If it minimises it, how do you switch between current running applications?

1c. If it minimises it, how do you close an aplication?

2. Is there a 'task-manager' similar to that on the 7650?

3. Is there really no predictive text?

4. ORANGE CUSTOMERS: Is the site that you get when you load the browser for the first time a WAP 2.0 site or an HTML site? If its the latter, I am dreading my phone bill 😞

5. Where on earth can you turn SMS delivery reports on?

6. What does the button on the provided hands-free set actually do?

7a. When in flip-closed how do you voice dial?
7b. When using the hands-free how do you voice-dial?

erm, thats all I can think of for now!

Thanks in advance guys!

1: minimises it

1b: Using a task manager supplied with Filemanager or Switcher both freeware.

1c: Using a task manager supplied with Filemanager or Switcher both freeware.

2: Not built in as far as I've found, but see above above anwers, Switcher also has a 'hotkey' so you can open it at the touch of a button, bit like holding the menu key on the 7650.

3: No T9

4: I'm a Vodafone Customer

5: I don't think it works, but is planned for a future firmware version, please feel free to mock me if i'm wrong. 😉

6: Answers Call

7a & b: Good question

7a Press and hold the jog dial button
7b I asume you press and hold the button on the handsfree unit, although I have not tried this yet.

4. - depends on your startup page. if it's the SE logo that you see, it's a local file i believe. I don't know about orange much but I do know that they customise their phones.

7b I asume you press and hold the button on the handsfree unit, although I have not tried this yet.

Assuming its the same as the R380s (and it seems to be based on it) you just press the button once, wait for the beep and then say the voice command. If you hear a second beep, it didn't recognise your command.

At 68 you have obviously a lot more patience than I do at 18!

I'm guessing you didn't use the index like OldGuyPhilip, did you headshox?
