how come everytime I delete a contact, memory gets smaller, exactly the opposite of what I expect...
doesnt it follow that when you delete something it frees memory?

thanks a lot... 😃

I can't claim to either know or understand Nokia implementation details, but on Forum Nokia it has been said by Nokia support people to be due to the implementation being based on so called "Dynamic Buffers".

Some background information for a developer can be found here

So, keep adding, deleting or modifying contacts and when you reach some magic point you'll see the memory reappear.

This is quite well documented on this forum, but there are 2 easy ways of defragmenting the memory Contacts uses:

nameswap, a freeware: swap all names, then do it again. you'll have the contacts in the same order, occupying less space

better (I think) use an option within the latest version of Space Doubler by Psiloc. Also available in the latest version of Stacker, a comparable product. Both of these are commercial softwares, but both have a trial period.

Same thing happens with messages?

Any answers?
