Memory Usage ... What's going on?

Can't seem to figure out what's going on.
5 different clients for reporting memory usage:

1. Handy Day
2. File Manager
3. Switcher
4. Storage Manager
5. Desktop client

Each of them literally reports a different value (even the total amount of memory is reported is different in some cases, I guess that could be because of some application reporting different kinds of memory like ROM or free 12 MB memory etc).

What's going on? Can someone please provide me the details?

Also, if my phone is running low on memory, then which application will correctly report that state?

Thanks

Close all Applications first and then use the phones native Control Panel>Storage manager Information.

Since all other App are dead this is the most acurate way to get it.

Handy day is also very aqurate, although it tends to suck up some battery and memo itself, but since it's an "All the time" app. It gives oyu a good idea.
Handy day 2.5 is supposed to have some fixes for this.

Contacts, when open, and MP# player are the big mem eaters.
