Does anyone have a portable charger that works with the N8 ?

Hi All

The earlier post regarding batteries reminded me to ask if anyone as actually got a portable\emergency charger to work with the N8 - I have tried a Nokia branded 2mm emergency charger (DC-8) - A power chimp on both USB and 2mm feeds and 2 stand alone plugin batteries from Mobilefun on micro USB and one 2mm - none of them worked to any satisfactory degree - all shut off quickly - never properly charged the device . I am keen to buy a protable charger (another one !) but would really want some good refernces first.

Yep. The Nokia DC-10 works very well with the N8 - the only limitation is that it will only charge through the MicroUSB and NOT the older 2mm plug. The DC-10 is fantastic as I've used it to charge many things (N97, N900, N8, Vivaz, Galaxy S etc).

bchliu - Is the DC-10 a car charger adapter not a portable charger ?

UKjeeeper - the proporta products look good but I was hoping for something a liitle more pocket sized for carry around - it look quite big on the product shots

works very well (and has the legendary BP-4L 1500mah battery in it) and also works in "Dual charging" mode - that you can charge both the battery and the phone simultaneously through a 2mm Nokia Charger. Read the specs and you'll be impressed.

Again - note that the N8 only works with mUSB cable from this..

I have ordered one from Amazon ( a little more expensive than Ebay - but much easier to return If I have any problems) Hopefully with the BP 4L battery hopefully it should work - I was originally looking for something a little smaller but On my 4th charger purchase I would rather buy something that definately works!

No problems. All I can say is that I love mine.. Basically charges any MicroUSB phone and even if I change phones, its still carried onto the next one.. 😊

Received the DC-11 from Amazon today - seems to work great - I only tested on partial charge but it did charge to full which none of the other products did.Its a lot slimmer than perceived and fits in pocket easily.Seems a much better(nokia) build quality than other on market and `integrated `connectors are very tidy.

I noticed on the PR1.1 changlog that there were minor fixes to charging - anyway I did not try the DC-11 with the 2mm power cable before update but my N8 seems to charge OK of 2mm supply after update - I have only given a partial charge but it has charged the N8 to full via 2mm feed which is a good sign.
