If you have 2 bluetooth devices, say the P800 and a bluetooth enabled PC, and the bluetooth ranges of these devices are 10m and 50m respectively will the maximum distance these devices will be able to communicate with each other be limited by the device with the shortest bluetooth range, ie 10 meters?
I recently bought a TDK bluetooth adaptor for my PC with a range of 50m but the furthest I can get my P800 to communicate with it at is 10m. Is this corret or is the TDK bluetooth dongle faulty?
That's correct - how do you think the 10metre device will be able to communicate with the other device once it's out of range? BT is a non-directional protocol; while the 50metre signals (sure it's not class 1, 100metres, like my MSI is?) will be received by the P800, the signals it returns will only go 10metres due to it being a class 2, 10metres device. Thus the computer will never even see the P800 - the P800 will see the computer, but not be able to respond.
BT is limited to the range of the shortest signalling device.
