PR1.2 Available for UK phones?

Do any UK-based S^3 owners have their PR1.2 updates yet?

It's not currently available for my N8, product code: RM-596 Country Variant United Kingdom GB CU ORANGE_COLOR

My previous phone was locked to Three and I quickly became fed up with waiting for their firmware updates so I switched product code. That's ok as long as you remember to switch it back to Three's before the phone goes in for any warranty work.

Didn't want to bother with all that this time, plus changing product code on the N8 doesn't seem as straight forward as with the N97, so I bought a UK variant direct from Nokia.

I think I'm waffling.

Confirmed here! Installing!

Done N8-00 PR1.2 V014.002 RM-596! Ovi Store Hard Reseting issue NOT SOLVED!

I've not got this yet, Orange locked variant that has had all the previous updates on time.

No major problem, its primarily a MfE update, which I'm never likely to use.

ANNOYING!!!

get a "helpful tip" text from Nokia explaining how to update my phone... like i don't know how to do that already, then realise it might be a s/ware update.

annoyingly, it turns out to be one i need to connect my phone to my computer, so have to wait until i'm home from work as OVI suite is banned from work computers. grrr.

anyway, anyone got any idea which update this is? pr 1.2 plz...?!

just had a desire owning office friend say "seems like you get an update every week" in a slightly jealous tone. lol. if only... ;o)

Ok, so i got bored of waiting and upgraded mine via the "pheonix" method, actually super easy to do as it turned out. Anyway, aside from the obvious mail for exchange upgrade, i have to say that the improvement has been subtle, yet obvious, mostly with the web browser for me which before was close to useless. It is now relatively useable, still slow compared to the likes of android etc, but definately more stable. I would also point out that i moved from "3" firmware to "generic euro 1" so whether that has anything to do with it i don't know. Still a hike from 1.1 to 1.2 either way. Just gotta wait for that big 2.0 now 😊

Just spotted this on my N8 Software Update app (image 1 and 2)...installing now.

Product code: 059C5Q5 (Nokia N8-00 RM-596, UK variant, sim-free, Colour: Orange)

The update is also shown in the *#0000#, "Check for updates" list (image 3).

*edit*
Now installed.

First thing I tried was the browser. Same version number (7.2) but a definite performance improvement.

Transitions between homescreens and applications folder were stuttering to begin with, but now, even with opera, slick, foursquare, photo gallery and maps all open, the transitions and app folder are all moving smoothly...ish 😉

do you know if three's free SKYPE and WLM still operates fine on generic euro 1?

just spotted 1.2 update on my cpw unlocked on orange, product code 059c5q8. was not live at 6am this morning

I applied the 1.2 OTA update to my N8 yesterday morning. In the evening I noted down all the apps I had installed, formatted my mass storage and performed a hard-reset.

Luverly! or so I thought...

One of the first things I did was fire up Ovi Store to be presented with the 'Download the new version' message. It downloaded, installed all the way to 100%, then said "Unable to unstall".

After a couple of hours retrying, re-hard-resetting and forum trawling, I finally got it installed and everything up and running.

The solution to getting the Ovi Store app installed was to install Bubbles first. Once Ovi Store was working I removed Bubbles.

I ended up installing less than half the apps that I previously had loaded, I've switched off all theme effects, using two homescreens, all non-essential apps moved to a "I don't use this very often" folder. Now my N8 zips along nicely 😊

My Ovi Store problem only occurred when I installed PR1.2 and did a hard reset. Is PR1.2 still not available for you?

PR1.2 for E7 is not available, but PR2.0 should be out this week.

Edit: looks like the announcement was only out this week and the software in coming months... 😞

wow, im really suprised my o2 handset got this, I thought they were going to skip over this… nice one

hopefully this'll tide me over a little till pr 2.0 (summer!? bleah)

Looks like PR1.2 is now available for the SIM free UK variants along with Orange, O2 and Tesco. No sign of Vodafone, 3 or T-Mobile yet (although I note some of the non-UK versions from these operators are available)

Vodafone OTA "operation cancelled by server" for E7

Hi warmth!

Any luck with your Ovi Store recently?

I did another reset today and now can't get Ovi Store installed, just keep getting the "Unable to install" message even after trying the Bubbles technique which worked for me previously.

😞

I have tried everything but nothing works for me and I'm really done with this thing, I just download the files from ovi store manually now (using the send to friend trick) and I'm waiting for PR2 to solve this issue...
